The Center for Community Engagement is committed to providing faculty, students and staff with the necessary resources for their work in the community of Easton and beyond.

In our Memorandums of Understanding with community partners, we have agreed to process and maintain records of the necessary background checks according to PA ACT 153 and other state requirements of all students involved in Community Based Learning and Research , co-curricular service learning and volunteer activities. To this end, we have developed a process for individuals to complete these background checks through our office.

PA ACT 153
Effective July 2015, ACT 153 requires adults who have contact through employment or as volunteers to complete three background checks plus an online Mandated Reporting Training. The background checks include PA Criminal Check, Child Abuse History Report and FBI fingerprinting. All of these clearances can be completed through the Center for Community Engagement.

TB Screening Child Care, Facilities for Elders, Easton Area School District
In addition, the Easton Area School District and facilities for early childhood learning and those serving our elderly neighbors require recent TB screenings. The Center for Community Engagement has partnered with Bailey Health Center to process these screenings. When necessary this requirement will be included in the overall process. For more information watch TB Silent Killer on PBS Frontline and Huntington Post
